Wayfarer Ray Ban Sunglasses – What Iconic Design Should You Purchase?
The Ray Ban Wayfarer sunglasses range needs small introduction. The design is simply one of the most recognisable, copied and knocked off in the world of sun shades.
It’s also arguably one of the best-selling shades of all time. However, some might say that another model from Ray-Ban, the Aviator, holds that title. That is actually a hard call.
The Ray Ban Wayfarer sunglasses have been around for ages. Since 1956, if I’m not mistaken. And they are still going strongly thanks to its classic design. Only a few sunglasses can lay claim to have outlived so many styles and fads and still remain popular more than 50 years after.
The Ray Ban Wayfarer sunglasses did suffer a slight dip in popularity in the 1970’s but made a dramatic comeback in the 1980’s. It took another dip in the 1990’s but an easy revamp and usage of different materials helped it to one more comeback.
Everybody from presidents and film stars may be seen donning a couple of Ray Ban Wayfarer sunglasses. It was just that cool.
I own 1 or 2 pairs of Ray Ban Wayfarer sunglasses. The Wayfarer 2132 model has been a favourite of mine for a long time. But although the Wayfarer 2132 model and the rest of the Ray-Ban sun shades in my collection all have that specific Wayfarer look, they each have a novel quality.
The First Wayfarer
The RB2140 is also known is the first Ray-Ban Wayfarer design. It was re-introduced to the market in 2007 to meet the huge demand for that model. This design is for people that desire nothing but the first trapezoidal design.
Although it was designed to have an edgy male look, it had no trouble looking good on women too. An unlike lots of other frame designs, the Ray Ban Wayfarer sunglasses appeared to fit virtually any face shape without much of a fuss.
I generally use this model when I am going out for a drive in my convertible or bike rides with the family. The lens size is excellent for keeping damaging UV rays and debris out but please do not try perching it on your head while driving or cycling as the lean angle makes it almost impossible to do so .
The New Wayfarer
The Wayfarer 2132 model is also known as the New Wanderer. The New Wayfarer model came about to remedy the acclaim decline of the Wayfarers in the 1990’s.
What the Ray-Ban designers did was redesign the original Wayfarer. They made the frames smaller and less angular. They exploited a different material for the frames in order to make them lighter. They also changed the lean angle of the frames.
All these changes were done to make the Wayfarer 2132 easier to wear and to rest on a wearers head. Even thought the lens is smaller than the original Wayfarers, they do a good job of protecting your eyes from harmful UV rays. Plus, you can perch these babies on your head simply.
The RB4105
These sun shades are perfect for people like me who’ve got the disposition of losing their Ray Ban Wayfarer sunglasses. This is because you can fold these sun shades. After you are inside, you may simply slip these folding Wayfarers in your shirt pocket.
I have got to admit that when I first got a pair, I was still not used to the practice of keeping them in my pocket and ended up leaving them at the park. Fortunately , Christmas was just round the corner and my loving hubby got me another pair.
In summation,
- The folding Ray Ban Wayfarer sunglasses makes it very convenient to store when not wearing
- Ray-Ban makes some of the best-selling and best-looking sunglasses in the world today
- The new Ray Ban Wayfarer sunglasses or Wayfarer 2132 sunglasses have been redesigned so that it is more comfortable to wear
